Services

  • We offer custom sawmilling services for client logs at a rate of $100 per hour at our yard in Fox. Clients are responsible for hauling their logs to us and providing a cut list of their desired outputs. We strive to maximize the yield from the logs, but keep in mind the saying: "You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear."

Additionally, we offer portable sawing in the Fairbanks/North Pole area at a rate of $100 an hour plus a $250 mobile fee to get the mill to your site. If you are out of the Fairbanks area, we still would be interested, but recommend reaching out to us to discuss your situation. A productive site typically requires some space and log handling equipment makes it way more efficient and therefore cheaper. It's best to contact us for specifics about your project so we can provide tailored advice. If you have a significant number of logs, this can be an economical (and ethical, using the lumber where it grew is as local as it gets) way to source building materials.

When bucking logs, aim for the straightest sections possible, avoid rotten areas, and cut logs 4-6 inches longer than your desired lengths to allow for cracks and checking. Logs must be at least 3 feet long and 6 inches in diameter for milling; however, smaller logs yield minimal output and require more effort for secure clamping. Larger logs are more efficient and cost-effective to mill. We can process any number of logs from 1 to 100.

  • We sell rough-cut lumber, cabin d-logs and beams milled from logs harvested in the Tanana Valley. We typically do not keep a stock of cut lumber, so each order is custom cut to meet your specifications. Please note that the lumber will be green and should be treated accordingly. While it can be used right away, thoughtful handling and use is recommended.

We can mill logs ranging from 3 feet to 24 feet in length. The majority of our lumber is White Spruce, though we occasionally have Birch, and very rarely, Cottonwood, Chokecherry, or Tamarack.

Feel free to reach out for a current price list or if you have any questions about using local, green rough cut lumber. It's a valuable resource, and we are fortunate to offer it.

  • At this time, our shoeing books are full, and we are not accepting new horses. If you require farrier services, please feel free to contact us for a list of farriers in the Fairbanks area.

If you have a large number of horses and are located outside the Fairbanks area, traveling can sometimes be blast and we may be interested in taking on your request. We encourage you to reach out to discuss further.

  • We almost always have green firewood on hand for sale, normally spruce but sometimes birch. In the fall/early winter we will have dry firewood, but that is more expensive (we have to be paid for the space it took up in our yard for a year or so to dry) and we normally run out by the time winter comes and it gets cold. We encourage people to buy their firewood in the spring (or better yet a year or two before) when it is still green. It is cheaper for the customers, more readily available and it doesn’t take up space in our yard! We also have dry firewood bundles for sale 24/7 at our roadside stand. Occasionally we have slabwood/1st cuts off the mill for sale, but not always.

  • We’re always interested in other projects, especially if they are on the woodsy, rustic side. If you need a big timber frame gate made or some hand forged cabinet pulls, just as an example. If you have an idea for a project, then definitely reach out and we’ll see if we can’t get something figured out.
